Best flying plane of this type that I have ever owned
Having been flying for the last 40+ years, I know what a great airplane is, and this is one. It is the truest flying plane I have ever owned. Zero coupling in knife-edge, and almost zero coupling in flat rudder turns. Mine weighs 3 lb 12 oz with the AJ 3910 motor and a 4S 2,600 battery. Mine hovers at less than half throttle, and I get 8 minute flights, with plenty of battery left for go-arounds.
I have not yet done much 3D with it, but it is very stable in upright harrier flight. Snap rolls are great. I generally dislike lightweight electric planes in the wind, but mine handles the wind just fine.
Within 2 hours of ordering mine, I had a tracking number. I was very impressed with the design and build quality (I was a mechanical engineer, and have built well over 50 kits). It was a breeze to put together.
The red/black color scheme looks great up close, but orientation can be difficult when it is far away or on overcast days.
I love this plane a little more every time I fly it. It is a real winner, and makes anyone look like a better pilot than they really are.
Be sure to keep a tiny bit of power on while landing, right up until you flare. If you don't, the plane is so light, lacks energy in a glide, slows down really quickly, and will gently stall, with the prop windmilling and acting like a brake. Feathering the throttle will prevent that, and let it land like a butterfly.
Finally, if you use the old Realflight 7.5 simulator like I do, the real 51" Slick flies WAY better than the one in the simulator, which is not stable at all in harrier flight, while the real one is. Other than that, they fly pretty similarly.
